Job Description :
We have an immediate opening for a
Database Administrator (DBA).
Typical activities of a DBA will include some combination
of the following, as appropriate to the assigned project:
Management all database servers in production, staging, development
and test environments.
Ensuring data integrity is maintained in all tables,
views and databases.
Responding to any and all production database issues.
Communicating regularly with technical, applications,
and operational staff, to ensure the database integrity
and security.
Creating and maintaining procedures for backup,
reorganization and schema changes.
Performing requested database cleanup and queries.
Specifying, configuring and administering all hardware
and software.
Assisting with database conversions from one database
to another.
Planning and implementing long-term capacity planning
and infrastructure changes to maximize performance for all
database components.
Evaluating, recommending, and performing database
design, upgrades and changes.
Responsible for the design, development and
implementation of mappings/transformations based on
source-to-target specifications.
Defining ETL (extract, transform, load) development
standards and conventions.
Writing and maintaining database documentation,
including data standards, procedures, definitions for the
data dictionary and logical and physical models of the
databases.
Design of high availability DBMS architectures-
Development, Test, Staging and Production database
environments.
Fault diagnosis and corrections that occur with
database systems.
Development and installation of monitoring tools.
Data modeling, SQL and stored procedure design and
development- DTS, OLAP and replication design, build and
support.
Design and development of associated diagnostic
utilities.
Diagnosing and resolving performance problems.
Use of advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for
unusual or performance-related problems.
Implementing detailed documentation process for
tracking and logging all pertinent aspects of the database
process to include: tasks, modifications, installations,
backups, unusual occurrence, failures, etc. with
traceability.

Job Requirements :
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline is
required.
Minimum of ten (10) years of technical experience in
systems/network design. Skills should include design and/or
operation of engineering specific tasks and methodologies.
CISSP preferred.
Extensive knowledge and experience with relational databases
is required.
Must have an ability to interact with and mentor developers in
the proper use of stored procedures and general data access
techniques.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with an
in-depth knowledge and experience with SQL Server database design
and architecture, performance analysis and optimization,
troubleshooting, and production support are required.
Must have experience with SQL Server database internals
including security, replication, multi-instance management,
configuration and management tool sets, stored procedures,
triggers, and backup/restore strategies and toolsets.
Must have an ability to effectively manage time and schedules
with superior technical, analytical, troubleshooting and design
skills with demonstrated initiative to identify issues, develop a
solution and champion its implementation.
Additional Information:
Will be subject to a government security investigation and
have to satisfy eligibility requirements for access to classified
information.
